MOUNTAIN ATHETE COACHING CERTIFICATION

Mountain Athlete Coach and Certification includes a 3-day long, theory, practical and programming course at our facility in Jackson Wyoming.

Mountain Athlete Certified Coaches don't just learn our exercises and our programming approach. You'll learn how to design and implement your own strength and conditioning programs based on available equipment, experience of the athletes you're working with, and time you have to train.

And this ability will extend beyond designing general physical fitness programs. You'll learn how to get "sport specific" with program design - for example, how to design a "sport specific," multi-week program which will train up an athlete for an approaching mountain bike race, summit attempt or big wall clime.

You'll learn the Mountain Athlete approach including our focus on strength, why durability is so important and how we train it daily, etc., but beyond that you'll learn and master the tools to identify for yourself which fitness attributes you feel are important, and how design an implement a program to train them.

The Coaching and Programming course covers basic strength and conditioning theory, exercise selection and instruction, weight room management, and goes into extensive detail on mountain athlete periodization and programming including sport specific strength and conditioning for climbing and skiing.

Coaches must then pass two exams and a fitness test.

First is an extensive written exam on the strength and conditioning principals and program design as it applies to mountain athletes.

Second is a practical exam on exercise selection and instruction.

Third is the requirement to pass minimum fitness standards for strength, work capacity, stamina and durability. Here is the fitness test:
